February, 2020 Meeting Notes:

-41 Members and guests were in attendance.

-Ed Wheeler shared info about local coin shows, and info concerning our up-coming coin show in May, 2020. We have sold 50+% of the available tables for the show. Members wanting a table were advised to get them now. We sent out over 60 solicitations to dealers for the remaining available tables.

-Ed Wheeler gave the secretary notes from January Meeting. Brad Boomsma has joined the coin club board as Secretary - replacing Mark Yarborough.

-Steve Weeks gave the treasurer's report. The club remains solvent!!

-Tom Yancey gave an educational presentation on “Urban Legends” in the world of coin collecting. Tom’s program on the origins of the model for the Standing Liberty Quarter dispelled the long-standing myths about the 1916 version of this coin!!

A few quick notes about the upcoming (3/17) coin club meeting - as well as a few other items:

-We’ll pass the word about the meeting room location via email as soon as we get something confirmed from the hotel.

-We are going to try our best and start the meeting at 6:15 pm, so we can finish as close to 9:00 pm as possible.

-Numerous Members have been donating books to the club and we have started a small Numismatic Library and these are available to members to check out. Please check with one of the officers if you would like to borrow a book.

-Annual Memberships are currently $25. Membership becomes delinquent 1 April, 2020.

-Please notice that the auction rules have changed. The only change is that all members are allowed to bid on their own items in the auction, but will be required to pay 5% to the club if they are the winning bid on any of their own items.

-We do take Credit/Debit Cards as a form of payment.

 Auction:

Only members can sell items in the auction. Each Lifetime Member is allowed to auction 10 items, Annual Members are allowed 7 items. 95% of the combined sell price will go to the seller, 5% of the combined sell price will go to the club. Any seller who sells a combined total of more than $300 will only pay $15 to the club. If selling choice, highest bidder gets their choice, and second highest bidder gets his choice at the same price as the highest bidder. Attached is an auction sheet and rules for the auction.

Our total number of members since March 2015 has now grown to 135 members since March 2015, 115 are active memberships, and 32 of those are now Lifetime Members.

We have also had 8 new members join in 2017, please reach out and introduce yourself to some of the new members to help them feel welcomed.
